January 1, 2024January 2024 Returns and Asset Performance
February 3, 2024The UofM sponsored the course ‘Decrypting Crypto.’ I was one of three teachers invited to present. The course was taught at the UofM St Paul Campus on February 1 and 8, 2024.
At first, my role was to compare digital currencies to other mediums of exchange and stores of value. Moreover, I presented the basic steps involved in any crypto currency transaction. I also shared adoption models for estimating bitcoin network growth. Adoption models are essential to understand the demand and pricing of crypto coins. Next, the course provided a top-down structure to classify crypto coins and tokens, recognizing that over 23,000 tokens are now available Finally, I presented performance data on blockchain technology stocks available for investing. The last section also included data on the impact of crypto currencies on portfolio risk and return. A key question to answer was “What is the right amount of digital coins to own given different risk appetites?”
The highlights of the course are listed below:
- Capital Market Exercise

- Market Context
- The Crypto Currency Ecosystem
- Blockchain Equities
